Grandma day, with a couple of Grandpas thrown in the mix

Sunday was Grandma day, since James got to see three Grandmas (and two Grandpas!) within a few short hours. E and I really wanted to get out and do something, since on Saturday we just lazed around. So we called E's parents Sunday morning and asked them if they'd like to go on a little outing with us. We decided to go to The Utah Museum of Fine Art on the University campus. We were hoping James would nap in his stroller while were there, but due to the fact that James hates to nap, of course he was more than pleased to walk around the galleries with his adoring Grandma. E's dad, too, walked with him for awhile, and James seems to still really love art, due to the fact that he didn't fuss the entire time we were there.

But Grandma's arms were his favorite place to be.
Once we were done at the museum we headed over to my Aunt Laura's house for an early dinner party. My mom picked up my Grandma Barbara from the nursing facility, and brought her to Laura's to visit the family and have a favorite meal (she requested corned beef and cabbage).

The best part of Grandma Barbara's day is seeing her only great grandchild. She adores James and was so happy to see him at Laura's. Willow (my Grandma's sweet golden) was never far from my Grandma's side. He's missed her so much.
Grandpa Chuck and Grandma Debbie make silly faces to get James to smile. He gave us lots of huge grins.

It is interesting to see how the different Grandma's interact with James in their own unique way. It is amazing how each has their own style, and none overlap even the slightest. Connie (E's mom) loves to kiss and snuggle James. She is a very calming influence and James loves to fall asleep in her arms. He gets hundreds of kisses from Grandma Connie each time he sees her. He's very loved! My mom plays with James more. Making silly sounds, faces, and actions. James never falls asleep when my mom is around, and all the silliness pays off with huge grins. Great Grandma Barbara (even before the stroke) loves to have James sit on her lap. She talks to him about many things and loves to touch his head and stroke his hair. James just looks around contently when he's in Grandma Barbara's lap. He loves those Grandmas!

Side note: since E and I haven't been going out to eat a lot lately, we've been cooking really yummy meals at home more. We've gotten in the habit of making a later dinner on Saturday nights, after the babe is in bed. We try to make something more deluxe, often something that takes a little longer. Then, around eight we open a bottle of wine and sit down to a fantastic meal. This Saturday we made grilled steak sandwiches with homemade flat bread. SO GOOD! We melted Gorgonzola on the flat bread, tossed spinach in a yummy dressing and cut the grilled steak up and piled it on. It was amazing.

When E grills at 8:00 pm in the winter he needs his headlamp to see what he's doing. We even made the flat bread on the grill!
