Oh man it's hot. Not only hot, but humid too. The air is thick with smoke from fires, so, while the sunsets are brilliant, and the sunrises are absolute gold, the middle of the day is stifling.
But I enjoy it, most the time.
I sit in the shade and sweat with the baby girl as James fills up the water table, sprays me with the water bottle, balances on the edge of the raised flower boxes, and runs back and forth in the sprinkler.
Today was like most others, they begin to blend together in an endless memory of heat and sun and hose water. But today I decided to grab my camera. I wanted to document the simple, the easily forgotten.
I wanted to make time stand still for one single moment and try to remember.
The flower boxes are bursting with color.
The honey bees are hard at work on our blooming mint. Hundreds softly hum from the edge of the garden.
Most the time Juliet is in my arms. The only reason she was on a blanket today was because I was taking photos.
Whatever outfit James was wearing lays forgotten in a heap. Within minutes he is always wet and asks me to take off his clothes.
The sun is brilliant. The sky is blue. The garden is alive.
And it's really roasting hot.
