Mountains on a Monday

After another long week of E being in Tokyo (again!) and arriving home too late on Sunday for a proper weekend activity, we decided to make the most of his Monday off. Jetlag and all.

While I miss the help, company and companionship when E is gone the kids miss him on an entirely different level. Juliet particularly misses Daddy and asked each and every hour when he'd be home. Even after almost 24 hours of him being home, on the hike she kept saying "let's stop and hug a little" or "just one more kiss" which of course totally and completely melted E's heart into a pile of mush.

With the gray skies and the fact that it was the work week, it meant that we had Silver Lake practically to ourselves. And there were a few times the clouds broke and we were left with the most amazing scenery Utah has to offer. The golden aspens only made it better.
With the amazing colors and two happy kids I decided to try for some photos. All photographers have a few tricks up their sleeves to try to entice natural smiles and amazing photos. I asked them to sing a song. Instead of a smile I just got tons of photos of them singing quite enthusiastically.
Sometimes gray skies make the colors so intense.
My golden boy. He asked to sing "You are my sunshine" on the way up the mountains. "You make me happy when skies are gray" couldn't be more true.
"You'll never know dear how much I love you..." Thank you dear kiddos for this photo. Love it. New header is up!

Rainbow colored grasses make me happy.
Sun! Even if it was only a moment!

Baby November will be FIVE in November. I can hardly deal. He's supposed to be my baby forever.
Neither of them are babies anymore. Before long I'll have a five year old and a three year old. And while it's hard watching them grow, I am also so excited for what the future holds.

I'm a sucker for reflections.
She's not the hiker her brother is. Sometimes she'd just have to sit in defiance.
Once we arrived inside the aspen forest James started looking for the most beautiful leaves.
The forest floor carpeted in aspen leaves, I have probably taken over a hundred photos.
Lots of leaves to collect.

"Please don't take my sunshine away."
