When we got there we met up with E's parents and went out to splurge on burgers and fries. James was being adorable. He was dancing, which is totally his new "trick". Every time you hum a tune, sing a song or dance yourself he breaks out his best baby moves. Steve (E's dad) was laughing more than I've ever seen him laugh the entire time knowing him. It was awesome.
After a very silly lunch with lots and lots of dancing, we went back to the farmhouse, laid a blanket on the front pouch and did what we do best at the farmhouse: relaxing. James wanted to walk, of course, so we each took turns bending over and having him lead us around the yard to all the trees, grasses and weeds he wanted to visit.
Granny Con and James visit a tree and Grampy Steve shows James the woodpecker hole on the porch post.
Beating up Dad just like last time.
After a glorious baby nap we got started on dinner (Dutch oven chicken pot pie) and Connie and I took a walk down to the barn.
Down at the barn I sat James down and started snapping away. I was struck by how very quickly things change. It is crazy. (Remember the barn photos with James earlier this year?)
The next day we were woken up early to a screaming baby. It was 5:30 and I think James realized he was not at home, and wherever he was, it was scary. So we put him in our bed and he was awake. Like really awake, and E and I both had had a horrible night, so we got up, zombie-like, and took a drive to Spring City.
After a nice morning stroll (where we both felt groggy as hell) we came back to the farmhouse, put the baby down for a nap and both took a nap ourselves. After all three of us had slept two more hours, we all felt much better.
Both of these photos were taken on our morning walk in Spring City. Later E and I said the walk felt like a dream. We said if there weren't any photos we'd know we'd dreamt the entire thing.
The next two were taken by E. Yep, he likes photography almost as much as me.
