Then I walked down with James again on Monday. Twins! Only a day old, tops. I had my camera because I was just getting home from Gardner Village and the the light was perfect. Honey and golden and beautiful. So golden in fact, I didn't have the heart to convert them to B&W.
But the babies were far away and I didn't have a zoom lens. So when Melissa came over yesterday we went again. I brought the zoom. And as we were standing there a Mama goat gave birth. No joke. We didn't see the actual miracle, just one moment there was no baby, then there was. Wet and fresh and perfect.
And since it was a cloudy rainy cold day, these photos were perfect for B&W conversion.
Mama with a minutes old baby.
Still wet and fresh.
Melissa and James peek over the fence to see the sweet Mama nuzzling her baby for the first time.
My little baby. Doesn't seem that long ago that I looked at him for the first time, but it also seems like a lifetime.
All the goats without tiny babies were happy to see my cute sister.
Mama with her two day old twins.
This silly goat Melissa and I wanted to take home. She was acting so cute and crazy! She'd jump up on this pipe and them jump down and chase the chickens like a mad lady. Love her.
The sweet innocence of a Mama meeting her baby for the first time almost made me teary. It is so tender.
Beautiful sis feeding the goats some bread.
Then I decided to go again today, but left my camera at home. Why? I have no idea. Because today the owner was outside! He said "would you like to hold them?" Yea, I almost died.
A friend, her son, James and I all ventured behind the gate. The babies were jumping. Playing. Acting like the cutest little things I have ever seen. Then I scooped one up and gave her a snuggle. James? He was really interested in the trees and the sticks and only cared about the goats when I was holding them. Then he got a bit jealous and wanted me to hold him, not any other cute adorable baby.
Sorry for the lack of quality on these last photos, they all came from my cell phone.
Notice he looks a little less than pleased that I have found a new baby.
My goodness these are the cutest. The owner says six more of the mamas are pregnant!! Want to go see baby goats? Give me a call, I'd love to go.
James and his little buddy really didn't care much for the goats. The beautiful hillside was much more interesting.
