Farmhouse weekend

What a wonderful weekend we had. It was just what we needed.

E and I decided to pack up the car on Saturday morning and head down to the farmhouse. We weren't sure if we wanted to spend the night, with the baby and all, but we decided to pack his travel crib just in case.

The drive down was spectacular. Clear skies and fresh snow. It was amazing pretty. Once there we decided to spend the night. James was happy and we wanted to see how it would go. We ended up putting him to bed a little later than his 7:00 bedtime, and he did wonderful! He slept in his travel crib like a pro, and only woke up twice to eat and one with minor fussies. What a good man.

The next day we woke up, played with Grandma, made a big yummy farmhouse breakfast and went on an eagle drive. We went to all the spots where we have seen bald eagles only to not see a single one. Finally we were about to call it quits when we decided to try one more location where they often hang out, and we lucked out with a four bald eagle sighting! One flew off first thing but three hung around. The neatest part? They were all on one tree not far off, so I could capture all three in one photo. Beautiful!

Is this so sweet? E has really taken to reading to James. This book, Shapes, James seemed to like. He looked at each page quite intently.
James hangs out on the the big feather bed.
And kicks his legs and waves his arms. He's quite happy.
The weather couldn't have been better, however it was quite cold.
Three bald eagles.
Such an awesome sighting.
And and update on my Grandma: She had a tough weekend. Another CAT scan showed more swelling in her brain. Today they stared a saline drip to help bring the swelling down. While I was there she finally woke up (after being asleep for the entire weekend) and tried to talk. She asked for a pen so she could write and wrote "thanks for helping me" on a pad of paper. Of course Grandma, we will always be there for you. Always. Hopefully she will start go slowly get better instead of worse. Thank goodness.

  2. Thanks for the update on your Grandmother. I have been thinking about her. I hope she continues to get better. I think it is a very good sign that she could write out a message to you.

And James just keeps getting cuter with every photo shoot!
