Today Juliet turned four months and oh what an exciting day it was. Not only is the weather beyond perfect (a high in the mid 80s) but my sweet little snuggle bunny decided to roll over from tummy to back. She's almost got back to tummy as well, so it's quite exciting!
Lots of things have been going on with this little girl (who's not so little anymore). She loves to sit and watch the world. Try to lie her down and she wants none of it. She has amazing head and neck control and simply adores smiling and James. She is a fantastic sleeper and even has begun to nap pretty consistently. Night sleep? Amazing. She 100% breastfed, and I don't plan on introducing solids for a few more months. She loves to coo and smile and is quite a little chatterbox.
I haven't talked much about her nighttime sleep since this post forever ago. Lots has changed! She no longer sleeps in our bed (only did that until she was about three weeks old). Since then she has slept in a bassinet next to our bed. It is wonderful. I love it. She sleeps so well and when she stirs or cries out I can easily put my hand on her chest from my bed without walking into her nursery. With James, I would wake up, walk to the next room and have such a hard time falling back to sleep. With Juliet I hardly wake up at all.
Until about a week ago Juliet went to bed with me around 9:00. However I was noticing her start to fade right around seven so I decided to try for an earlier bedtime. Now after we put James in bed, I go to my bedroom and swaddle and nurse Juliet. She has been going to bed around 7:30 for only about five nights but it makes me feel like a new woman! I can blog! I can have time with E without a baby around! I can even eat a long dinner if I choose.
Juliet used to sleep from 9:00 pm until 7:00 am or so, waking up a few times in the night but satisfied with just a binky (I'm so lucky, I know!). Now that she goes to bed earlier she can make it until around 5:00 am when she wants her first feeding. I am totally okay with that!
Now, onto likes and dislikes.
LIKES:
Her family. She has reached the stage where she knows strangers. She adores her Mama and Dada, but James has her heart.
Tickles on her feet, which always seem to make her giggle.
Mama's silly songs, another way to make her giggle.
Being outside.
Snuggles next to Mama, still her favorite.
Baths with Mama as long as James doesn't splash her in the face over and over.
Booby milk.
DISLIKES:
Being strapped into the carseat.
Being placed in the bouncer seat when all she wants is snuggles.
Bad baby dreams (she wakes up crying from her naps about every third day).
Not being held when Mama is trying to eat.
As I've stated before I always save a special outfit for her month day photos. This little dress has black kitties on Venetian gondolas. It says "ciao bella!" and is just too sweet. Also, check out the little bow and circle cutaway on the back.
As soon as I took the photo above of her back I had a feeling she was going to roll. And she did! Doesn't she look surprised! Good job baby girl!
And seeing this photo totally reminded me of James, something about how she has her eyes. E agrees. So I dug through my archives and found a photo that is similar. Not identical, but you can definitely see the similarities.
Here is James at the same age. Twinsies.
Happy 4 months baby girl!

Beautiful baby girl! She's going to be a stunner, it's apparent already. Jessica, I'm the doll person outside of Seattle who hosted your traveling Violet quite a few years ago. I check your blog from time-to-time. I'm going to be a Grandma around Jan/Feb 2013! Your family is just lovely.
ReplyDeleteShe is so beautiful! And I am dying over that outfit and shoes.
ReplyDeleteJuliet already has beauty and charm! Dada is going to have to use a bat to keep those boys away when she gets bigger. And that darling outfit! She is perfection!
