Rocky Mouth Waterfall {Birthday weekend begins!}

I adore early July. July 1st is E's birthday and July 9th is our wedding anniversary, so the first two weeks of July is constant celebration. To kick off the celebration we decided on a family hike to Rocky Mouth Waterfall in Sandy on Saturday. If you have young kids and live in Salt Lake, and you haven't been here, you are missing out!! The hike is perfect for little ones and it ends at the most glorious little waterfall you've ever seen.

Juliet was in the tummy pack, looking around happily for half the hike and sleeping for the other half.
The waterfall is easily accessible if you're willing to get your feet wet. The cold refreshing water and the shade was such a nice escape to the 100 degree day.
Favorite family photo to date! Thank you nice man from Georgia.
The entire area under the falls is shallow and perfect. James was in heaven playing in the ankle deep water and throwing rocks.
And the water is insanely crystal clear.
We hung out here for quite some time. Everyone was happy and the cold water kept us cool.
We hiked in the morning so most of the time we were there there was shade, however the sun steadily climbed into the hot sky.
Before we hiked back down E decided to dunk his head so he could stay cool. He said it was freezing but felt so awesome!
Hike details, because I know you'd ask: The Rocky Mouth Canyon Trailhead is located in Sandy, Utah. There is a small signed parking area on the east side of the road at 11300 South Wasatch Boulevard. The hike is 1/3 mile and steep. James hiked 90% of it but needed help near the end where it was rocky. Go. You'll love it.
