Mother's Day

I adore Mother's Day. Not because I get presents, or because it is in May and the weather was perfect, but because of this guy. I get to be his Mama. He made me a mother (something I'd always dreamed of being) two and a half years ago. I am so lucky.
We started the day in the backyard where we prepped for my family to come over for a potluck style brunch. Potluck was perfect because being the only family member with small children, we didn't want to spend hours in the kitchen.
Peonys were courtesy of my garden.
Coffee and tea, and mimosas, begels, strawberries, sausage, mexican scrambled eggs, my Grandpa's sourdough pancakes and little girl cheeks were all served.

And, my cousin Kendra is back from her first year at collage. So fun! This was the first time she'd met Juliet.

Auntie Sissa is among one of James's favorites. He was laughing up a storm with her.
Dang my sis is beautiful.
Once the sun reached the middle of the sky we retreated to the blanket and chairs in the shade under the trees. We chatted, we laughed, we tickled the kiddos.
I showed everyone all of James's secret tickle spots (hint: it's the collar bone). He kept saying "more collar bone tickles!"

And then late in the day, after both of my kiddos napped we went to E's family's house for a BBQ. All I could think about, the entire night, is how lucky I am. I do not take this for granted. Not a single second. I've got this:
And throughout the evening James played with various family member's in "Damma's" sandbox.
Life is good. Hope your Mother's Day was special too.

PS - both my children wore lilac, a color perfect for May. I was giddy to get them dressed and then didn't get a chance to get a single (good) photo of them together. I did get this one though. :)

I agree, Lilac is perfect for May. Perfect for Spring, really. I put my kiddos in lilac for Easter this year :D
