Donut Falls

E took the day off today and it was wonderful. James and I love having him home. We took a walk this morning around the neighborhood (something James and I do most mornings), then James wowed us by a great morning nap.

When he woke up we headed up Big Cottonwood Canyon to the Donut Falls hike. Donut falls is an easy .75 mile hike to a great little waterfall that actually falls through a hole in the rock. We knew James would love it. This kid adores the water.

It was a hot day for a hike, the first triple digit day we've seen this summer.
Luckily it was nice and cool down near the river.
This video ends with some minor fussies, but it begins with James splashing at the edge of the river. He's so darn cute in his hiking outfit.

One of James's favorite new tricks? Sticking his tongue out. A lot. Seems like I couldn't get him to smile, because that tongue is just too darn fun.

Ya think he likes hiking? (We were a little worried after his first hike in Zion National Park when he had a baby meltdown).
Another favorite trick? This funky sequel/giggle/cough combo that he loves to do. My favorite thing about his funny cough/laugh thing is that he blinks each time he does it. Totally cute. He only does it when he's extra happy!

  1. This boy is going to be a hiker when he grow up, no doubt about that! What a precious sweetheart he is! I love his happy face in the backpack!
